How to create custom versions of mandatory questions while keeping benchmarking data
Explori (red) and company (purple) questions cannot be changed, however, there may be some cases where you would like to change the wording on one of the questions to make it more relevant to your specific use case.
Custom questions can be created, with the Explori/Company question mapped into it, so the wording of the question is more relevant to you while still allowing you to pull the benchmarking data.
Please note that we only recommend doing this if the meaning of the question remains the same and only a slight change is needed to the wording, otherwise the benchmarking will not be accurate.
To do this, first you will need to add the Explori/Company question into the survey. Once you have added this question, you will need to create a custom question with the updated wording. Please note that the custom question must be the exact same question type as the mandatory question and the answer options should stay the same, otherwise the mapping will not work. The custom question should appear above the Explori/Company question in the survey.
Once you have added both questions, click on the disable button on the Explori/Company question to hide it. A ‘+’ symbol should now appear beside that question.
Click on the ‘+’ and select the custom question you created from the drop-down menu, then drag and drop the answers from the left to the matching answers on the right and hit save.
The ‘+’ should turn orange.
Now when respondents complete the survey, they will only see the custom version of the question, but the custom version will still come with the benchmarking data of the Explori/Company question.
The question will appear twice in your reports but the custom version can be removed once the survey is closed.
Please note that these steps must be completed before the survey has been sent. If you need to map a question after a survey has already been sent out, please contact us at support@explori.com once the survey has been closed and we will be able to assist you.
