Survey set up

To create a survey, click on the "Create survey" button on the left-hand side of the Explori Home screen:

Alternatively you can either create a new survey from the 'Surveys' page, or you will be prompted to create a new survey when you create a new event in Explori.

Which event is this survey for?

This is where you assign the survey to the event with the dropdown menu showing all events that your account has access to. If an event hasn't already been built, you will need to go back and use the 'Create a new event to survey' option to complete this step before the survey can be correctly assigned.

Once you have started to create your new survey, you will be presented with the following screen which will ask you the following questions:

Survey name:
When naming your survey, we recommend keeping the name as short and simple as possible - specifically we would name the survey after the audience that is being survey and the year that the event is taking place (such as Visitor Survey 2025)

Who would you like to survey?
Surveys are split into 4 key audience groups:

  • Visitors
  • Exhibitors
  • Non-attendees
  • Someone else (used for general surveys)

By choosing your targeted audience, Explori will suggest surveys of a similar audience type to copy from as well as providing you with Explori's own questions which are targeted to the audience group you are trying to survey.

What is the topic of this survey?
You will select one of two options;

  • A Post-show / onsite survey to review the performance of the event
A benchmarking survey that will be conducted to assess how satisfied a particular audience group (e.g. visitors, exhibitors) were with your event. Note that if you selected 'Someone else' as your audience type, you will not be able to select this survey type.
  • A survey about something else
Used for finding out about the industry, testing perceptions on potential changes to future events or any other type of survey which is isn't for post-show feedback.

Which languages would you like to take part in this survey in?:
Only languages that have been assigned to your company will be shown. If you are interested in using a language not listed, speak to a member of the support team via support@explori.com and your list can be updated for you.

If you are creating a multi-language survey, you can have a single survey which will be available in the selected languages instead of having individual surveys for each language.

Event details

Once you continue, you will need to enter some details about the event. The details will include:

  • The event dates
  • Number of expected guests
  • Where the event takes place

Don't worry if you're not sure about the exact details. You can always go back and update this later.

Once you have provided all of the necessary information about the survey, you will be presented with a few different options

You can use a company template that has been previously set up, copy a previous survey from the same event (or a survey from a different event in the same portfolio if a survey exists), use a company template that has been previously set up, use an Explori template or you can start from scratch if you want to start with a blank survey with no other questions.

Client Template

If you have an event marked as being a template, you will have an option which will appear with the name of your company in order for you to copy surveys from.

If you do not see the option to copy a survey from a Company Template, this means that your account does not have access to any template surveys. Please contact your account manager or support@explori.com should you wish to set this up.

Copy existing survey

Where possible we recommend copying the survey used for the event in its last edition in order to have a consistent base of questions used to allow year-on-year comparisons.

If you do not have a previous survey for the event or want a fresh start for your survey, you have the ability to copy another survey from the portfolio that your event is in.

Note that when surveys are copied from within the same product, you will be given the option to either keep the links the two surveys or to break these links. You can find more information about this under Linked Surveys.

Explori Template

If you do not have a relevant survey to copy in your portfolio, we recommend using one of Explori's professionally designed survey templates. The templates provide a variety of Explori's benchmarking questions and are a great starting point from which you can add in any questions that are specific to your event.

Create blank survey
Building a survey from scratch is an option but we generally recommend against this due to having survey templates which are present to save you time when creating your survey. However, for shorter ad-hoc surveys you may find it quicker to start with a blank survey rather than using a template and deleting the majority of the questions.
